In March 2018, the NCFIC hosted a conference in Montgomery, AL, where I gave a message entitled “The Family Life of an Elder”.
I try not to be star-struck, but this was a thrill for me, because Alexander Strauch was also speaking, and I believe he has produced and is producing the most helpful resources for local church elders and deacons.
It was also a very sobering message to give, because every right-thinking elder has an acute sense of his imperfections as a husband and a father.
I think the punchline is summed up in this line from the message:
“There is no biblical or rational basis for believing that a man will be a better elder than he is a husband or a father.”
